For K-12 School Districts

Student safety no longer ends at the schoolhouse door.

Today's threats often begin online — on social media, messaging apps, gaming communities, and anonymous channels — and can escalate before staff are aware. Silent Sentinel gives districts on-demand access to trained cyber-threat analysts and standing open-source monitoring, so online risks are identified, assessed, and escalated before they reach your students.

Operational model

An extension of your safety team — not a surveillance program.

Analysts don't passively watch students. Work is district-directed and scope-bound: two standing monitoring functions authorized at enrollment, plus case response you initiate.

Standing function 01

Open-source threat monitoring — district-specific

Analysts continuously scan publicly available platforms, social channels, and forums for mentions of your district, schools, administrators, and facilities — focused solely on direct or indirect threats. Credible content triggers immediate notification with a documented intelligence summary and recommended next steps.

Standing function 02

Breaking news & geographic-impact watch

Analysts monitor accredited national and regional news, law-enforcement bulletins, and public-safety feeds for incidents of violence that may affect your area — and provide timely situational-awareness notifications with guidance on precautionary measures.

Within 4 hrs

Decide

District determines the response: intervention, referral, monitoring, or closure.

Document

Case archived with a full chain-of-custody record; final report on request.

Fits your existing ecosystem

The human analysis your tools don't provide on their own.

Behavioral Threat Assessment

An embedded resource to your BTA team

Where you maintain a multidisciplinary BTA team, Silent Sentinel acts as an analytical resource to it — not a parallel process. Summaries are formatted for direct use in case review, and analysts can join review sessions on request.

Monitoring & tip lines

Downstream of your existing tools

Automated platforms surface flagged content at scale but don't investigate or contextualize it. Alerts from your monitoring software, tip line, or staff reports route to our analysts for investigation and an escalation recommendation.

Clear lines

You decide. We inform.

Every recommendation is advisory; every response decision stays with the district.

Escalation & exigent support

Standard workflow, with a 60-minute after-hours path.

For active threats outside business hours, your designated emergency contact initiates the exigent notification process on a dedicated after-hours line. An on-call analyst responds within 60 minutes to assess the situation, provide triage guidance, and recommend immediate next steps — including a law-enforcement referral where credible, imminent indicators are present. Exigent activations are documented, with a full case record created for next-business-day follow-up. The district retains full authority over when and how to engage law enforcement.

Privacy, security & compliance

Built for New York student-data rules.

Districts keep ownership and control of all student information. A trained human analyst reviews every finding before it's delivered — never an algorithm alone.

To let analysts access student information without individual parental consent, each district designates TeleFore, LLC as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA. Silent Sentinel executes a New York Education Law §2-d and Part 121-compliant Data Privacy Agreement with every district, and maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — encryption, access controls, staff training, secure retention, and documented breach response. Threat criteria are designed to exclude protected speech, including political, religious, and identity-based expression.
